Bowie was born April 15, 2020.

I chose him from his litter from Sunnyside Goldens and from the very beginning, I knew we were meant to be together. Looking back now, I truly could not have asked for a better dog. Bowie has had the most incredible temperament and health since day one, calm, loyal, adaptable, and endlessly loving which makes me so grateful for the care that went into his breeding from the very start.

Our first summer together during Covid was full of camping trips, road trips, and adventures. From the start, Bowie was so confident. Nothing ever seemed to rattle him.

That fall, he started coming to work with me every day in a warehouse where I worked 8-hour shifts. At only six months old, he would quietly lay under the table and patiently relax until I was done working.

In January, I started jewelry school. Five hours a day, during the week, Bowie was right there with me. Sometimes he would come to class and sit underneath my desk while I learned how to make jewelry.

After I graduated, I started working out of a spare bedroom in my apartment, building my jewelry business piece by piece, often late into the night. And every single day, Bowie was right at my feet.

He has truly been there since the beginning of my jewelry journey.

Through different homes, apartments, heartbreaks, wins, big life changes, and six years of growing together, Bowie has never left my side. Most recently, he moved across the country with me to Costa Rica and transitioned from the dry mountains of Utah to the humid jungle climate like he was made for it.

He has never been sick. He does amazing at the groomer every month, is incredibly smart, and has an amazing recall. He’s the kind of dog who can spend all day adventuring or completely relax when needed.

And if you know Bowie, you know he loves the water.

He could swim for hours every day if I let him. One of his favorite things in the world is digging for rocks and sticking his entire face underwater to grab them. His personality cracks me up constantly, and I swear he knows exactly what I’m thinking at all times.

He’s also my protector. I feel safer with Bowie near me because he is always paying attention, always watching, always picking up on weird vibes before I do. He has this calm, steady presence that makes me feel grounded.

People stop me all the time to ask how old he is because they think he’s still a puppy. He still has this youthful look in his eyes that makes him seem forever young. And everywhere we go, he puts a smile on people’s faces. I am constantly getting told how beautiful he is and I absolutely agree.

Bowie is my rock. My constant companion. He is the most loyal dog I have ever met, and without even realizing it, he became woven into every part of my life and this business.

If you’ve ever received a piece from MelJewelz, there’s a 100% chance it was made with a golden retriever resting at my feet.

Every piece of jewelry I make carries a little bit of Bowie’s energy with it too.

He is my soul dog, my familiar. Meljewelz number one employee. And I truly don’t know what I would do without him. Forever sandy & smelling like cheese from the ocean. My best friend & no matter where life takes us, if it’s across the world, he will always make me feel at home. 💖

I love you forever my Bowie
